15 Practical Tips to Use Twitter Effectively to Promote Your Blog

July 2, 2017 By Liton Biswas 7 Comments

Being on social media is a part of your blog promotion.

When you talk about blog promotion you can’t ignore twitter. Because it is one of the most popular social media website now a days with 300 million active users.

I’ve written a post about how to create a twitter profile for your blog before.

Today I’ll share how to use twitter effectively to promote your blog.

Blog promotion, use twitter effectively

15 Practical Tips to Use Twitter Effectively To Promote your blog

So here are the tips to promote your blog on twitter

1. Publish Your Post on Twitter Automatically

As soon as you publish a post on your blog it’ll be automatically published on your twitter profile. Isn’t it good to save your valuable time?

How to do that?
There are various ways to do that. One simple way to do that is to use WordPress plugin named Wp to twitter.

You can read more about setting and using that plugin here.

2. Tweeting Other’s Post

Always tweeting post from your blog is not a good practice for blog promotion. It looks promotional and your follower may feel irritated. After all, twitter is a social platform. So be social.

If you find any interesting things or image somewhere else related to you blog topic share those too in your twitter profile.

Tweet your favorite blogger’s post if you think your follower will be benefited from that.

3. Tweet Your Old Post

It is not necessary to always tweet your new post. Your follower may have missed your old post. So give them another chance to read your old posts.

Frequently tweet your old post from your blog.

My strategy is to tweet a one-month old post everyday.

4. Ask Question

We all love to share our opinion on social media. So why not encourage your readers to share their opinion by asking them question related to your blogging niche.

So sometimes ask question to your readers instead of simply sharing your post link.

It’ll help you to know more about your readers. What they want and how they want it.

5. Reply to Your Follower

Frequently reply to your follower. It’ll make them feel that you care them.

My strategy is to reply 10 follower everyday.

Replying a tweet is easy. Just find out the tweet you want to reply to by scrolling through your twitter home feed.

When you’ll find one, click on reply button. A tweet box will be opened. Type your message in the box and click on reply.

Keep in mind that reply is directed toward the user you are replying. If you want to add some other user in your reply do that by typing “@” followed by their twitter username.

6. Appreciate Your Follower

Identify the twitter users who share your post or comment in your post or somehow engage with your post and appreciate them by giving thanks.

7. Retweet Frequently

Retweet your tweet frequently. My strategy is to retweet 3 post everyday.

8. Listen What Others Are Saying

Search twitter to know about what others are saying about your blog on twitter. You can do this by searching relevant keyword to your blog.

9. Follow New User Regularly

It is a part of growing your follower. You should follow new users regularly. Below are some tips to follow new user effectively.

  • Follow influencers in your niche
  • Follow quality brand
  • Don’t follow anyone randomly or automatically.
  • Scroll through the bio of influencers’ followers and follow them who seem relevant to you.
  • Follow those who often retweet your post.

10. Check Your Competitor’s Follower

Visit your competitor’s follower list and check their bio. If they seem related to you follow them.

11. Unfollow People at Regular Interval

Find out inactive users in your profile and unfollow them at regular interval.

My strategy is to do this once in a month.

You can use free tool like Untweeps to ManageFlitter inactive twitter follower.

12. Tweet Positively

Avoid negative tweets. Always share positive tweets. After all, negativity is bad, you know.

13. Use Hashtag in Tweet

Use hash tag before relevant keyword in your tweet. But don’t use more than two hashtag in a tweet.

14. Use Image in Tweet

Using image in a tweet get more share than the without image. So when possible try to use image in tweet.

15. Set Goal

As you are using twitter for getting traffic to your blog so you have to set a goal to increase your follower.

My Twitter goal is to increase my follower 5% every month.

Keep in mind that I’m not a pro twitter user. I just research online to set my twitter strategy for my blog. And I strictly follow these tips to grow twitter follower for my blog. I share those here if you find it useful to promote your blog on twitter.
