For the last two months, I’ve been super busy in my professional life. You may have seen the effect of that in my blog.
I’m a civil engineer and working as a project manager in the building construction sector. As a project manager, I need to take care of everything related to my construction projects until it’s completed. That a lot of work.
If a project goes as scheduled, we can progress smoothly and we, however, don’t need to be busy. But that doesn’t normally happen. The schedule needs to be changed as per client or owner’s choice.
Two months ago, I have been requested to take the project to a certain level. For that, I needed to work day and night for the last two months.
This hampered my blogging schedule.
As a project manager, I need to face this situation frequently. So, I’m searching for ways to be on my blogging schedule in that busy situation.
You may be in the different situation. Your busyness may be different. I’ve just described mine.
Whatever situation you are in, there must be some ways to get time to blog.
I’m sharing my strategies which I follow in my busy days.
How to Blog When You are Super Busy
Everyone has 24 hours limit in a day. Some make millions and some make nothing in that time frame.
I’m sometimes amazed that how some people do many things within that 24 hours time frame.
I’m thinking about this matter deeply for some days. I’m searching for the solution how can I blog when I’m super busy.
I’ve found some ways to beat busyness.
1. Include Blogging in Your Life’s Priority
What are your life priorities? Is there a place for blogging?
I love my day job. As a civil engineer, I really love my profession. Other than this, I have a family life. I have a social life.
Everyone has these.
Doing all the things at once isn’t possible. You have to choose your priorities.
In my case, I love my profession. So I can’t neglect this. I also love blogging. So, I shouldn’t neglect this too.
But the problem is that most of the new bloggers don’t take blogging seriously.
If you want to be successful in blogging, you should take that as a business. But, the thing is, as the blogging business takes less investment to start, so we often don’t take it seriously.
If it would need to be invested a lot of money like real life business then everyone will take it seriously.
When you don’t take anything seriously, you can’t take that anywhere.
So, the first thing you need to do is to include blogging in your life’s priorities. Once you can do that, your subconscious mind will help you to find time and ways to blog consistently.
2. Set Blogging Priorities
Include blogging in your life’s priorities is one thing and setting blogging priorities is another thing.
Blogging involves various types of tasks. These tasks include writing and publishing posts, planning content, blog marketing, commenting on other blogs, participate on social media sites, guest posting, blog designing, monetizing, etc. etc. etc.
In your busy days, you definitely don’t have much time to do all the things regularly.
In my first blog, which is on my professional niche – building construction, I didn’t publish many posts in the first two years.
The reason was, I wanted to make the blog looks like other popular blogs. So, I would focus on design-related things other than publishing posts.
This hampered the blog’s growth.
So, you first need to set your blogging priority. So that when you are super busy, you can focus on the most important blogging tasks other them less important tasks.
So, what should be your blogging priorities during your busy days?
I’ve set two blogging priorities.
When I really don’t have much time to do all the things I just focus on publishing posts on my scheduled date.
If I get a little more time, I just focus on blog marketing.
I ignore other blogging tasks when I’m busy.
So, during your busy days, just do the most important blogging tasks and ignore other less important tasks.
3. Make The Most Use of Your Time
In the last two months, once I started to track my time, I found that I waste a lot of time just gossiping and sitting idle.
To blog in your busy days, you need to focus on those small time, even it is just five minutes.
Once you focus on those small times, at the end of the day you’ll find that you accomplished a lot.
4. Make a Blog Routine
As you know, I have a day job and run two blogs simultaneously.
I’m running into trouble to stick with my publishing schedule.
I’m publishing one post in a week in my both blogs.
I’m having a hard time writing and publishing two posts in a week on my both blogs after doing a day job. There are many other blogging tasks to do. Such as social media marketing, blog commenting, blog monetizing, content planning etc. If I’m having trouble writing and publishing only two posts, then how can I do other blogging tasks. I was thinking how can I get time to blog.
Then I decided to make a daily blog routine to use my time more effectively.
In the blog routine, I’ve set a few time blocks when I’m really available for blogging. For example, before starting my day job, I’ve set one and half an hour time block for blogging in the morning.
In that time block, I’ve included the most important blogging tasks (the tasks I’ve given priorities).
This strategy ensures my important blogging tasks completed even before starting my day job.
5. Get Up Early in The Morning
“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.”
We’ve heard this many times. This really works.
In the previous point, I’ve said that I’ve set one and half an hour time block for blogging before my day job starts. That’s the time I’ve really dedicated to blogging. If I don’t get any other time in the day along, I have a mental satisfaction that I’ve already used that time block for blogging.
It has been possible because I get up early and start my day at 6 am.
So, make a habit to get up early not only on busy days but also on any other days. You’ll be able to accomplish a lot.
6. Take Exercise Regularly to Sleep Better
Taking exercise ensures not only physical health but also mental health. It somehow helps to complete your tasks more effectively.
But I’m not talking about exercise for this benefit. I’m talking about this for another reason. That is to sleep well.
It takes time to get to sleep even after doing hard work all day long. At least, I sometimes feel so.
It is because I don’t always do physical labor. I often spent days sitting on chair planning for project and meeting with other contractors or vendors or clients.
I think, many of you, who have a day job, spend all the day on your office desk.
When I started taking exercise, I get to sleep as soon as I lay down on my bed. This helps me to refill my energy for the next day’s work. It also helps me to get up early in the morning.
7. Map Your Blog Post On Mind
I hate multitasking. I really try to focus on a single thing at a time.
But sometimes we don’t have anything to do rather than sitting idle. Sometimes we do a thing that doesn’t need mind involvement. A perfect example of this situation is “having a cup of tea”.
When we take a cup of tea, we don’t require to focus on that. Without knowing, we naturally involve thinking about unnecessary things.
There are many situations like this. I’ve just given an example.
I try to use those situations to write my blog post on my mind. As soon as, I’ve been on my mobile or on a computer, I write down that mind blog. At least, I try to take some notes based on which I can write a blog post later.
8. Use What You Have Instantly for Blogging
It’s not that you always have to be in front of your computer for doing your blogging tasks. You can use your mobile devices effectively.
I sometimes write a whole blog post using my mobile device. I’ve talked about this before in the post “How to Blog Effectively Using Your Smartphone?”.
9. Act Immediately
It’s essential that you need to take rest between two tasks. It’s required because you need to shift your mind from one task to another task.
But, I observed that we take more time to start a new task either it is blogging task or any other tasks.
My focus is to complete all the official tasks of the day if I get some time for blogging. For that, I just start another task after ending one task immediately without taking much time for resting.
This strategy not only helps me to get time for blogging but also I’ve been able to accomplish more of my construction project related works than before.
So, whenever you have many tasks to do, don’t be overwhelmed. Just focus on a single task at a time and forget about the rest. After ending that task start another one immediately without taking much time for thinking or taking rest.
10. Get Motivated
If you don’t get motivated, all of the tips I’ve shared in this post will be of no use.
You need to be motivated to blog even in your busy days.
To get motivation in blogging you need to be passionate about blogging. You need to consider your blog as a business. You need to focus on your end goal.
Focusing on the end goal helps me to get motivated. Whenever I feel demotivated in blogging, I think about the end result of my blog. I think about the mission of creating my blog. I think where I want to be after five years.
I’ve just shared how I blog in my busyness. Your situation may be different than me. Your busyness may be different.
Whatever your situation, no matter, you shouldn’t divert your focus from blogging. Blogging requires consistency to be successful.
How busy you are, no matter, think about how you can get time to blog consistently. You’ll be able to make your own way.
