Starting a blog is easy and you can do this in following six easy steps.
- Choose a blog topic
- Select a blogging platform
- Find a host
- Register a domain
- Install blog software
- Design your blog and go
Step #1. Choose a Blog Topic
The first step to start a blog is to choose a topic.
What will you blog about?
The answer to this question is the topic of your blog.
This topic is somehow called a niche in the blogging world.
Your blog niche can be anything. Giving you an idea, your blog niche can be –
- Your Hobby
- Your educational subject
- Your professional subject
- Tutorial about anything
- Your message
- Your thought
- Your research
- Your living style
- Your fashion style
- Your parenting style, etc.
In short, a blog niche can be anything you can imagine about.
But if you want to earn money blogging then you have to be tricky to choose your blog niche.
Please don’t get me wrong. I’m not telling you to earn money blogging. But blogging is full of opportunities to do so.
Ask yourself the following questions to choose your blog topic.
- Do you enjoy writing about the topic you’ve chosen?
- Do you eager to learn more about the topic you chose?
- Is there any scope to write continuously about the topic?
If the answer to above questions is yes then you can go for it.
There are many in the world who are interested in the topic you chose. Don’t worry.
2. Select a Blogging Platform
If we categorize them all, they are mainly fall into two categories. One is a hosted platform and another is a self-hosted platform.
Hosted Platform: Hosted blogging platforms are free. Blogger, WordPress.com, Medium is this kind of blogging platforms.
Although there are many popular blogs on these platforms, I won’t recommend these platforms for you.
Because there are many limitations for bloggers on these free platform. I won’t discuss those limitations here because I don’t want to make this post complicated for a new blogger.
If you interested to know more about the limitation of free blogging platforms read the following posts.

Self-Hosted: If you want to blog professionally then this is the one and only option for you. This is the reason almost all popular blogs are self-hosted.
When it comes to self-hosted blog then wordpress.org is the best bet for you.
Here are some confusion between the hosted WordPress blog and the self-hosted WordPress blog.
Hosted WordPress blog is hosting in wordpress.com and it’s free.
On the other hand, self-hosted WordPress blog is hosting in wordpress.org and you have to buy hosting space from a hosting provider. And it’ll cost you a bit.

3. Find a Host
I assume you chose to blog with the self-hosted WordPress blogging platform. Congratulation.
Let me say something about a host.
A host provides server space for your blog. All the things on your blog like blogging software, plugin, files, post. etc are hosted on the server space which is provided by a host. And they’ll charge you for that space.
But don’t worry this charge isn’t much.
Both of them are good for starting your blogging journey.
This blog is hosted on Godaddy.

4. Register a Domain
Actually, this section should be in the 2nd step.
Why I put this in 4th step?
There is a reason for that.
Some hosting providers offer a free domain when you buy hosting space. Such as Bluehost. That is why I put this in the 4th step.
However, the domain is the address for your blog just like the address of any other business in the world.
So when choosing a domain for your blog keep the following in mind.
- It should be easy to spell.
- It should be easy to say.
- It should be memorable.
- It should be short.
Okay. You’ve got some idea to choose a domain name for your blog. Now the core question is, where to register your domain?
There are many domain registration companies. The most popular of them are Namecheap and GoDaddy.
I resister my domains from GoDaddy. Just follow the link and search your desired domain. Select your domain, Payout and buy.
You are done.
Isn’t it pretty easy?
5. Install Blogging Software
In this case. I assume you chose WordPress as your blogging software.
Installing WordPress is easy. It doesn’t need any technical knowledge. I don’t also have any technical knowledge.
Most of the hosting companies offer one-click WordPress install solution.
Above discussed hosting companies also offer one-click WordPress installing solution. You can go with that. It is easy.
6. Design Your Blog and Go
I don’t want to leave this opportunity to congratulate you. Congratulations.
Your blog is ready to be online.
At this point, your blog will look messy. You need to decorate your blog as someone decorates his shop before starting in real-life business.
